As well as being proud and certified members of APMP (click here to view our APMP certifications), #TeamPipster plays an active role in the organisation. We do this through supporting APMP events, programmes and committees, contributing to the profession and individual development.
APMP Events
Pippa regularly attends and presents at APMP events and has presented at the last four conferences. She has given presentations on freelancing, flexible working, Linked In and general bid community learning.
APMP UK Rapport Mentoring Programme
The APMP Mentoring Programme provides a platform for bidding professionals to develop their career through regular meetings with trained mentors. The service is for APMP members, at any stage in their career, and focusses on the individual’s aspirations within the bid and proposal profession.
Mentoring is a chance for mentees to extend their own network and bidding family, supporting them to be their own personal best. In 2020, Pippa became a Mentor and Ambassador under the APMP UK Rapport Career Mentoring programme, giving up her time to help others in their career development and professional ambitions. She was trained to Mentoring Level 3 by award-winning enterprise ambassador, Jackie Jenks OBE. As well as being a mentor herself, Pippa now heads up the Rapport Mentoring Programme for APMP UK.
APMP Intentional Career Path (IPC) Committee
In 2020, Pippa also became a member of APMP’s ICP Committee. The ICP works to provide a plan for APMP International and its individual chapters to promote the bid and proposal industry as an intentional career choice for young people. We are all dedicated to helping the ICP Task Force improve accessibility of information about the amazing careers available in bidding. Katie and Sajia hope to further this cause by sharing their own intentional and proactive journeys into bidding.
At Pipster Solutions, we have a clear mission of linking bidding professionals socially, sharing practical tips and supporting the mental health of our peers, especially in the era of home working and social distancing. We do this through networking, social zoom calls and hosting learning sessions for our bidding community.
Thursday Throng Since the start of the pandemic, Pippa has run a networking Zoom chat called ‘Thursday Throng,’ so people working in the bidding industry could connect and feel less isolated. As the pandemic continued, it established itself as a weekly zoom that became a real lifeline to many and is still going strong.
Bid Bites ‘Bid Bites’ is a monthly hour-long Zoom session. Each session focuses on a different bidding-related subject, which is considered and discussed by bidding professionals in attendance. Bid Bites also started during the pandemic. so that important subjects could still be deliberated on a virtual platform. Previously covered Bid Bites subjects include social value, reviews, accessibility in bids and clarification questions. Sessions are always recorded, and an article is written by #TeamPipster to summarise the always fascinating conversation.
Bidding Quarterly Pippa also writes for the award-winning publication Bidding Quarterly, which provides the global bid and proposal profession with impartial advice, shared experiences, market trends and best practice. Pippa is among a panel of independent experts and guest writers that volunteer their time to contribute to BQ . All the panel members share a passion for developing the skills and community spirit of all those who work in the bidding profession. You can read all previous BQ articles on the Bid Solutions website
Pipster Solutions is proud to support local organisations through using our in-house writing, production and graphics skills to create professional proposals. This type of voluntary work is incredibly rewarding as we know we are helping to make a real difference.
Case Study: Project RESPECT
We recently supported local businessman David Baird, by working with him to produce a proposal for his inspirational new venture – Project RESPECT. David runs Blast Off Events, which is home to the Rocket Race series of popular fitness and Obstacle Course Running (OCR) events.
Following the success of the Rocket Race series as well as becoming a Mental Health Coach in 2020, David wanted to make an impact on the lives of young, vulnerable and disadvantaged people by putting them through his Project RESPECT programme. Project RESPECT combines all of David’s knowledge, understanding and experience into one course, with the primary aim of instilling respect into all those who participate.
During Project RESPECT, participants get the opportunity to:
The end objective of Project RESPECT is to boost confidence, provide a sense of achievement and create aspirations for all those who take part. It puts vulnerable young people on the road to becoming an upstanding member of the community rather than ending up jobless, homeless or even in prison.
#TeamPipster worked with David to bring his idea to life in the form of a proposal that would be sent to institutions such as the local council, police, and social services. The proposal will secure vital funding for the project so that David can help over 30 young people each year.
We support charities that are close to our team’s hearts. Each year a different team member chooses a charity that is important to them. We sponsor each chosen charity for an entire year, raising money through fundraising activities. Charities include SANDS, British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research, and Mates in Mind; a charity that provides free counselling and support to construction workers and their families.
This year, Hannah Thorne has chosen Cancer Research UK (CRUK) as our 2022 charity. The focus for fundraising is the Salisbury Race for Life 10K event in June, with several members of #TeamPipster participating. She says, “The cause is something very close to all our hearts and we hope to raise as much money as possible for CRUK. Sadly, everyone has someone in their life who has been affected by cancer. I have supported CRUK for as long as I can remember and have taken part in various Race for Life 10K events over the years. After a hiatus due to the pandemic, I am really looking forward to the challenge of taking part in this year’s Race for Life in Salisbury, alongside my fabulous work colleagues”. To support our fundraising, please go to #TeamPipster’s Just Giving Page.
Several members of our team help by volunteering in their own time.
