So who is Pipster?

 

Pippa Birch

Pipster is a team of 3 talented bid writers, led by me, Pippa Birch! 

I am a motivated, flexible and writer with over 18 years’ proven experience. My background is in highways, however I have built up an impressive portfolio of construction, facilities management, custody, and energy bidding experience since becoming freelance. Pipster offers exemplary writing skills, as well as reviewing, proofing and editing functions. She has a comprehensive understanding of tender processes, alongside a strong grounding in the technical aspects of highways and construction contract delivery. Most importantly, Pippa can put the kettle on when the going gets tough!

I set up Pipster Solutions in 2012, with the aim of providing a simple, effective bid writing service. It has become much more than that; a successful, sustainable business with over 30 clients winning the work they need to keep their own businesses running. over the last 5 years, Pipster’s services have evolved, still providing quality writing, but also bid management and coaching. I have also developed a comprehensive Bid Management System, to cover the bidding process from bid decision through to contract award and mobilisation. I am now giving back to the bidding industry through mentoring, writing and presenting. I plan to do much more with my business in the next few years, expanding my coaching of small businesses and encouraging young people to forge a career in the bidding world.

Hannah Thorne

Hannah Thorne began her career working for national drinks wholesaler WaverleyTBS working as a Desktop Publisher. It was here where she gained valuable document layout knowledge and developed a passion for graphics. She later progressed to a role working for infrastructure services organisation May Gurney (now part of Kier Group), working within their utilities bidding team as Creative Bid Coordinator. It was here where she gained significant experience working on high-profile bids, predominantly during the challenging AMP5 bidding process. Her most notable successes include winning quality submissions for tenders including South West Water, Wessex Water and Severn Trent Water, worth a combined value of over £360 million over ten years.

As well as having experience working on tenders and graphics, Hannah also has extensive experience in marketing and event management. She thrives in a deadline-driven environment and takes a strategic approach to her work.

Hannah has an excellent eye for detail and is a self-confessed perfectionist. Her approachable nature along with her professionalism makes her perfect for the role of Bid Writer at Pipster Solutions. She hopes that her previous experience will be an asset to the organisation and is very much looking forward to working with both new and existing clients.

Hannah is keen to eventually work towards APMP Foundation, followed by APMP Practitioner and APMP Professional certification.

Hannah lives in North Dorset and has been married to husband James since 2010. They have two children together (Alfie aged nine and Lottie aged five). She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, as well as walking, running and yoga. She is also an enthusiastic baker and cook, as well as a keen gardener. Hannah also loves animals and owns two cats and two guinea pigs.

Katie Dongworth 

Katie is a motivated, passionate and natural-born writer, at the very beginning of a long and successful bid writing career. She is an English graduate who, having always been passionate about the written word, discovered her love of technical writing when working for an industrial electrical company. Here she excelled in producing estimating tenders and operation and maintenance manuals for her team. After a short stint in journalism, she couldn’t resist the allure of writing meticulous, professional and comprehensive content for businesses in need and committed to a career in the bid writing world. Over the past year, she has shown tireless determination to prepare for this move, completing APMP certified courses, connecting with industry professionals and fundraising for small charities.

Katie offers excellent writing skills, accurate proofreading, painstaking attention to detail and heaps of enthusiasm! She has an eye for design and looks forward to producing professional, compelling and winning bids for all Pipster customers.

Katie is based in London but loves to travel to the West Country to visit her team. She enjoys reading, painting and generally being creative. In her downtime she likes to stay active, dragging herself on runs and doing yoga. Her favourite thing to do is spend time with friends and family, preferably on a nice sunny beach on holiday.
