Professional Development: #OutOfOffice and #OutOnSite at the Somerset Earth Science Centre

On May 24th, the Pipster Team were #OutOfOffice and #OutOnSite for a Team Training day focused on ‘Asphalt: From Rock, to Road, and Beyond!’  The team visited the Somerset Earth Science Centre, an industry-backed education and outreach centre located at Wainwright’s Moons Hill Headquarters.

The day kicked off with a presentation by the Institute of Asphalt and Technology (IAT) Non-executive Director Helen Bailey, who covered the extraction and production of aggregates – from rock to road. Following this, the Wainwright team led a Quarry and Asphalt Plant Tour, providing the team with firsthand exposure to the site environment and aggregate production journey. Our Pippa then presented on ‘Asphalt – What happens next?’, exploring the journey of asphalt once it arrives on site. To wrap up the day, Helen shared insights into the future of the industry and the latest innovations on the horizon.
