Pipster Solutions Ltd collaborates closely with trusted external partners to create knowledge sharing opportunities that help our clients win more work. By sharing expertise and insights, we empower businesses to strengthen their capabilities, win new opportunities, and achieve long-term success.

Our recent training day at Heywood House was a great success, focusing on the PAS2080 Carbon Management Standard and its link to procurement and delivery. The day was specifically set up for those clients aspiring to be new suppliers to National Highways, in the light of the new Scheme Delivery Framework tender being released in 2025/2026. Helping them to prepare for this tender before the documents land will be key to developing a strong bid.

Dr Helen Bailey and Dr Miles Watkins of The Driven Company  Associates Ltd, provided an informative and interactive session on the tendering landscape. They discussed how the National Highways Sustainability Strategy focuses on reducing carbon emissions and how suppliers need to be a collaborative part of reduction targets. Additionally, they reminded the group as to why reducing the industry’s carbon output is so important for mitigating against the impacts of long-term changes to the overall climate.

Seamlessly, this was linked to the new PAS2080 standard, what it is, why it was created, and how businesses can implement it – highlighting the need for early and collaborative efforts to measure and reduce carbon.

Topics covered included:

♻️Leaner Construction & Circularity

♻️Carbon Reduction Hierarchy

♻️Principles of Decarbonization

♻️Leadership

The guidance on PAS2080 encourages leaders to:

• Promote a culture that rewards efforts to reduce carbon emissions
• Build collaborative relationships on reducing whole-life carbon at the system level
• Involve stakeholders early in discussions and collaborate with them to implement decarbonization solutions

The workshop emphasized the critical need to tackle carbon emissions at the earliest stages of business operations. The message was clear: the time to act is now.

To encourage us to continue thinking about how we can actively reduce carbon, Pipster provided each attendee with an English oak tree sapling after the session. Each tree acts as a reminder to all about the importance of using nature-based solutions to remove carbon from the atmosphere. Once again, thank you to The Driven Company for a valuable and insightful workshop.
