hannah thorne

Hannah began her career working as a Desktop Publisher. This is where she gained valuable document layout knowledge and developed a passion for graphics. She later progressed to a role working for infrastructure services organisation May Gurney (now part of Kier Group), working within their utilities bidding team. It was whilst working here that she gained significant experience working on many high-profile bids.

Her excellent eye for detail, approachable nature and professionalism makes Hannah ideal for the role of Bid Writer at Pipster Solutions. She thrives in a deadline-driven environment and takes a strategic and thorough approach to her work. Hannah enjoys working with both new and existing clients.

Hannah lives in North Dorset with her husband and two children. As well as enjoying spending time with family and friends, she also enjoys walking, running and yoga. An enthusiastic baker and gardener, she also loves animals and owns two cats and two guinea pigs.

 
 

pippa birch

Pippa has been a Bid Writer and Manager for 20 years, freelancing for eight years, before founding Pipster Solutions in 2012. She worked in the highways industry for much her employment, within the contracting divisions of RMC, Cemex and Aggregate Industries. She gained industry-specific qualifications and was a key member of the Institute of Asphalt Technology, editing Asphalt Professional and sitting on Council.

While the majority of her career has been in Highways and civil engineering public procurement, Pippa has also covered complicated bids in facilities management, custody, and energy. She holds APMP Professional certification, is a member of the APMP Intentional Career Path Committee, an APMP UK Rapport Mentor and has recently taken on the role of Individual Career Path Lead volunteer for the APMP UK Chapter. Pippa is #ProudtobeAPMP

Pippa loves mud and taking part in OCR events across the UK. She dreams of escaping to Cornwall to live by the sea.

 

Matt Pickering

Matt joined Pipster in 2022 as a Senior Bid writer. He is an experienced Highways Engineer, having worked for Cambridgeshire County Council Highways for 13-years. He managed a team of engineers and an annual, multi-million-pound budget.

His first procurement was through the Eastern Highways Alliance Framework, where Matt was responsible for creating the tender information and liaising with the bidding contractors. During 2016, Cambridgeshire went out to tender on its £1billion Ten-year, Term Service Contract. Matt was part of the Technical Specification team and worked on the assessment of the Quality bids.

Matt joined Breheny Civil Engineering in 2017 as Bid Writer. He worked with major clients and helped to develop bids with key partners such as Designers, Sub-Contractors and Principal Contractors. Part of his role included developing Bid Procedures and a content library.

Matt loves going for a good walk and ideally finding a good pub!

 

Sajia Ahmed

Sajia is a young HR enthusiast with a strong passion to pursue a career in bid writing. She is a Business and Marketing undergraduate, currently studying for a postgraduate diploma in Human Resource Management. Her extensive educational background has allowed her to gain a strong knowledge base in both marketing and human resources.

Sajia oversees Pipster Solutions’ Human Resources function, making her the go- to person with all things HR! She also uses her marketing background to operate all the company’s social media platforms. Once her post graduate studies are complete, Sajia will begin her professional training as a bid writer.

Sajia loves to travel, meeting new people around the world, and learning about new cultures. She even runs her own travel blog along the side as a personal hobby during her free time.

Alison Hart

Ali joined Pipster in 2021 as Bid and Business Support Manager. Having previously spent 10 years providing marketing, and business support internationally for Shipley Limited, she’s Shipley trained in all areas of bid writing and has achieved APMP certification at foundation level. Ali is skilled in writing clear, focused, benefit driven content, as well as reviewing and editing business documents. She has experience in marketing and organising and running events. Her earlier, successful corporate sales career, provides her with many years’ experience engaging effectively with stakeholders, suppliers, and clients. She’s worked in communications and engagement roles in the Public Sector, including NHS communications teams in Cornwall. Most recently, Ali provided bid and business development support for Pipster Solutions’ client, Archus Healthcare.

Ali lives in a beautiful Cornish village by the sea, with her family and two dogs.

katie dongworth

Katie is a motivated, passionate and natural-born writer. She is an English graduate who discovered a talent for technical writing when producing estimating tenders and operation and maintenance manuals for an electrical company. After a short stint in journalism, Katie found the world of bid writing and worked hard to break into the profession. She is now producing winning submissions for Pipster clients and completing an apprenticeship with JGA. She offers excellent writing skills, a good eye for design and heaps of enthusiasm!

Katie is based in London but loves to travel to the West Country to visit her team. She enjoys reading, painting and likes to stay active by dragging herself on runs and doing yoga. Her favourite thing to do is spend time with friends and family, preferably on a nice sunny beach on holiday

 
 

Jo Brassington

Jo joined Pipster Solutions in 2021. She has known Pippa for over 10 years, having collaborated on large successful framework bids together. Jo’s bidding experience began 15 years ago at Foster Yeoman and later with Aggregate Industries, completing PQQs and coordinating quality submissions. Jo has worked in the construction industry for over 20 years. She spent five years at MJ Church, writing and coordinating Highways England Framework tenders and Local Authority projects. Her most notable success was winning the £75 million RDP Earthworks Framework bid.

Jo enjoys speaking to clients, she is organised, and loves researching projects. She has APMP Foundation level certification and is progressing towards Practitioner level.

Jo lives in Somerset with her husband, daughter and their dog. They enjoy gardening, country walks and visiting the coast. She draws and loves to run. Jo has participated in 10km race events, park runs and her first half marathon.
